After an engrossing four games, spectators and fans felt short-changed on Sunday with only 3.3 overs of India's innings possible before incessant rain forced the umpires to call off the game with the hosts on 28/2 at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. Former India cricketer Aakash Chopra took to social media to give vent to the spectators' frustration, saying, "Indian cricket must invest in a couple of stadia with a retractable roof with the quantum of broadcast monies flowing in, it's imperative to take the weather out of the equation.

Karthik made it back into the India limited-overs side for the five-match T20I series against South Africa after giving commanding displays during IPL 2022 season for Royal Challengers Bangalore. "I am very happy, very proud. It's an incredible atmosphere and team to be part of. For about three years, I've been looking from outside. I've been looking at how special it is to be a part of this team. I am enjoying and very grateful for every second I am here," Karthik told BCCI.TV.

Disney Star retained TV rights (Package A) for 23,575 crore while Viacom18 bagged the digital property for 23,758 cr (Package B & C). BCCI announces increase in monthly pensions of former cricketers, umpires

Ex-India captain and BCCI president Sourav Ganguly said that it is extremely important for the cricket board to take care of the financial well-being of our former cricketers and umpires. "It is extremely important that the financial well-being of our former cricketers is taken care of. The players remain the lifeline and as a Board, it is our duty to be by their side once their playing days are over. The umpires have been unsung heroes and the BCCI truly values their contribution," he said.
BCCI announces women's squads for Sri Lanka tour

Veteran pacer Jhulan Goswami who was not part of the Women's T20 Challenge, did not find the place in the squad, while Mithali Raj who led the team in the 2022 World Cup announced her retirement on Wednesday. It will be the first time since the Women's World Cup that the women's team will be seen in action in an international assignment. The Indian team will start their tour on June 23 and the last match of the series will be played on July 7.
Dravid impressed with Umran Malik; but unsure of giving him game time against SA

Malik, 22, bowls with sheer pace and consistently clocks speeds above 150kph and was used as a middle-overs enforcer by Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2022, picking 19 wickets in that phase, out of his haul of 22 wickets in the tournament. Dravid had been keenly watching Malik in India's first practice session on Monday.

The DDCA president said the upcoming first T20I is very close to his heart and asserted that adequate measures will be taken to stage the game successfully. The ongoing Covid-19 pandemic had stopped all the sporting activities in March 2020 and as Delhi gears up to host the first T20I, Rohan Jaitley feels it is an interesting phase in the city's cricket.
