BCCI planning to organise IPL auction ahead of 2023 season in mid-December: Report

A report in Cricbuzz says the date for IPL auction is likely to be December 16. It also added that the tentative schedule for 2023 IPL season has been discussed amongst franchises who were indicated of the same through informal conversations with authorities in BCCI and IPL.
BCCI AGM to be held in Mumbai on October 18: Report

According to the Cricbuzz report, the first edition could be in March and the BCCI is expected to issue tenders for the media rights and sale of franchises. The league is likely to be a six-team affair but modalities and the final decision are expected at the AGM.

As per the new order, the cooling-off period for office-bearers will kick in after two consecutive terms at either the BCCI or at the state association level. So the office-bearers can now have a maximum of 12 years at one go: Two three-year terms at the state association level and two three-year terms at the BCCI, and after this, the cooling-off period will be applicable.

According to the BCCI constitution, an office-bearer who has held any post for two consecutive terms (three years per term), at a state association or in the BCCI or a combination of the two, shall not be eligible to contest an election without completing a cooling-off period of three years. During the cooling-off period, the person cannot serve in any capacity at either the BCCI or at the state level.

The 63-year-old Azad said that the committee constituted by the then Chief Justice of India T.S. Thakur to correct anomalies in the BCCI had made certain observations, but, unfortunately, those points, which are most important, had been removed in the new judgment. In a landmark decision, the Supreme Court has allowed the BCCI plea in connection with the amendments proposed to its Constitution to relax the cooling-off period requirement.
