Recently, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) led the way for the formation and selling of franchises as well as media rights for the upcoming Women's Premier League, to be held in March 2023. It has made the five-team WPL the second-most valuable women's sports league in the world, behind only the 12-team Women's NBA in the US.

Adani Group, through Adani Sportsline Pvt. Ltd got the Ahmedabad franchise with the highest bid of INR 1289 crore, while Indiawin Sports Pvt. Ltd acquired the Mumbai franchise with a bid of INR 912.99 crore. Royal Challengers Sports Pvt. Ltd, JSW GMR Cricket Pvt. Ltd and Capri Global Holdings Pvt. Ltd won the rights to operate Bangalore.
BCCI, PCB likely to clash over calendar at ACC board meeting

According to the report, the point of contention for the two parties is BCCI secretary Jay Shah's announcement on the ACC's calendar for 2023, which the PCB alleges was made "unilaterally" without consulting them. Jay Shah is also president of ACC. The PCB has sought an emergency ACC Board meeting, which PCB chairman Najam Sethi announced will take place next month, ESPNCricinfo said in a report on Monday.

As per the calendar, ACC will organize 145 games in both ODIs and T20Is during its two-year cycle. The inaugural season of the Women's IPL is likely to be held from March 3 to 26, just before the men's IPL. A report by News18 Cricketnext has said it is reliably learnt that should Dravid not consider an extension as men's team head coach, then Laxman, who is currently the Head of Cricket at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru, could be the person to take the top job. Laxman, 48, has filled in as the head coach of the Indian team in Dravid's absence.
