Akasa Air's financial muscle: Can induct 72 aircraft over next 5 yrs
The company added that it has received its third aircraft in Delhi which will be put into operation on the Mumbai-Bengaluru sector shortly. "We will continue to grow our fleet by adding one new aircraft every two weeks," Vinay Dube, Founder and CEO said in a statement. "Thanks in no small part to Jhunjhunwala, for which we will always be grateful, Akasa Air is a well-capitalised airline with the financial means to induct 72 aircraft over the next five years," he added.
DGCA removes price cap on air fares
"After review of the current status of scheduled domestic operations viz-a-viz passenger demand for air travel, it has been decided to remove the fare bands notified from time to time regarding air fare with effect from 31.08.2022," said the Ministry of Civil Aviation. "The decision to remove air fare caps has been taken after careful analysis of daily demand and prices of air turbine fuel. Stabilisation has set in and we are certain that the sector is poised for growth in domestic traffic in the near future," Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said in a tweet.
Aircraft operators to share info on international travellers with NCTC
The CBIC (Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Custom), which comes under the Union Finance Ministry, issued a gazette notification in this regard on Monday titled 'Passenger Name Record Information Regulations, 2022'. Every aircraft operator is now required to register and provide passenger details in a prescribed format to NCTC-P "not later than twenty four hours before the departure time; or at the departure time - wheels off," said the notification.
'Aviation & aeronautical manufacturing sector likely to generate 1 lakh jobs'
A parliamentary standing committee on Estimates in its report tabled in the Lok Sabha on Monday noted: "At present, the direct employment in the aviation and aeronautical manufacturing sector is around 2,50,000 employees which includes pilots, cabin crew, engineer, technicians, airport staff, ground handling, cargo, retail, security, administrative and sales staff."
Aviation Minister flags off Akasa maiden flight
Earlier, on July 22, India's newest airline Akasa Air on Friday opened ticket bookings for its first commercial flights with an initial network in Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Kochi. Initially, Akasa Air, whose airline code is QP, will launch its operations by offering 28 weekly flights between Mumbai and Ahmedabad starting August 7, 2022.
IndiGo to reinstate pilots' salaries
"Despite the fuel and foreign exchange costs remaining prohibitive, we are hopeful that we will continue to inch our way back to profitability and higher growth. Our aim has been to constantly revisit our salary and remuneration and reinstate them to pre-Covid levels," said the statement attributed to the airline's senior vice president of flight operations, Capt. Ashim Mittra.
Nearly 350 aircraft inspected in last few months, says Aviation Ministry
"The spot checks raised findings which were corrected by the airlines. Another series of spot checks were carried out on all operating aircraft of Spicejet from July 9 to 13, wherein 53 spot checks were carried out on 48 aircraft which did not raise any significant finding or safety violations," said the Ministry of civil Aviation in a written reply in the House.
On time performance of various airlines records decline in May, June
On time performance of Go First was 94.5 % during January 2022 which came down to 71.8 % in May and 76 % in June. Similarly, On time performance of Spicejet was 87.5 % in January and it reduced to 70.9 % in May and 79.4 % in June. Other airlines including Indigo, Alliance Air, Air Asia and a few others recorded similar trends during the last few months.
Airlines should deploy type rated certifying staff, says DGCA
"Based on reports of increased engineering related occurrences in scheduled airlines in recent times, the DGCA conducted several audit/spot checks which indicated improper identification of cause of a reported defect, increasing trend of MEL releases, and insufficient certifying staff," said Director General Civil Aviation Arun Kumar.
DGCA orders Spicejet to operate only 50% of its flights for eight weeks
"In view of findings of various spot checks, inspections and the reply to the show cause notice submitted by SpiceJet, for continued sustenance of safe and reliable air transport service, the number of departures of SpiceJet are restricted to 50 per cent of the number of departures approved under Summer schedule 2022 for a period of eight weeks," said the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) in an order.
