Indians rarely make time for arts and culture, says survey

While more than half of the respondents thought the arts and culture are essential, they rarely manage to make time for it. The majority (60.6 per cent), mostly young people under 30, felt Indian museums could present more engaging content, and most perceived culture as anthropological/ sociological. Of the diverse categories included, music emerged as the most popular cultural activity.

The exhibition showcasing a new body of work by artist Paula Sengupta opens at 'Gallery Espace' virtually today, and will be on view until October 24, 2021, on the gallery website. It includes drawings which speak of Paula's continuing engagement with chintz, digital photo prints and animation, a medium she works in for the first time.

In an exclusive chat with IANS, Shai shared the making of the song. "We wrote this song almost 3 years ago before lockdown was a thing! Ryan, myself, and Freedo worked on it together in a session in London and originally had it down to pitch. After listening to it over a few months I resonated with it more and more and knew it had to be for my project," said Shai.

Indian abstractionist Mehlli Gobhai's art goes on view

According to the gallery, the exhibition is an edited extract of 'Don't Ask Me about Colour', the large scale retrospective of Gobhai's work that Hoskote and Adajania had co-curated at the National Gallery of Modern Art, Mumbai, early last year. The retrospective was cut short by the Covid lockdown. 'Epiphanies' draws on the extensive holdings of the late artist's estate.
