Deepika defeated Ksenia Perova of the Russian Olympic Committee 6-5 in a one-arrow shoot-off after both the archers had tied 5-5 on set points in their Round of 16 clash at the Yumenoshima Park Archery Field. Deepika shot a 10 off her shoot-off arrow while Ksenia managed only seven.

Das shot a 10 in the single arrow shoot-out after Jinhyek could manage only nine in an attempt to seal a memorable victory in a second-round match. Pravin Jadhav had replaced Das to partner Deepika Kumari in the mixed team as he had not done well in the ranking round on July 23, finishing second behind Jadhav.

In the first set, Ellison started off with a 9 and 10. Jadhav managed to hit 9 and 8. Ellison shot 9 on his final arrow. Jadhav had a 10 on his final arrow, but it was too late in the 28-27 set won by Ellison. In the second set, Jadhav began well with a 10 and 9, eclipsing the 8 and 10 shots by Ellison. On the final arrow, Jadhav scored 7, giving Ellison a small opening. The American shot 9 on the final arrow, wrapping the second set 27-26.

The Indian team of Atanu Das, Pravin Jadhav and seasoned Tarundeep Rai defeated the Kazakhstan team of Denis Gankin, Ilfat Abdullin and Sanzhar Mussayev in a close encounter in which all four sets were decided by a single point. They will now meet top seeds South Korea in the next round. The Indians, seeded ninth, won the first set 55-54, as Jadhav and Das scored a 10 each in the last two arrows at the Yumenoshima Park Archery Field.

Das and Deepika combined well to score a 5-3 win over the Netherlands to win India's second gold medal of the day. The Netherlands settled for silver. In the semis, Indian team beat Spain 5-3 and their victim in the quarterfinals was the USA team who they handed a 6-0 defeat. India also won a gold medal in the recurve women's team event.
