Domestic air traffic continues growth, Oct traffic records 26.95% rise

As per the data released by aviation regulator DGCA on Tuesday, nearly 1.14 crore passengers were carried by the domestic airlines during October in the country as against 89.85 lakh during the same period last year.
US fines Air India $1.4 million for 'extreme delays' in giving passengers refunds

Announcing the action against the Indian flag carrier and five other airlines on Monday, Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg said: "A flight cancellation is frustrating enough, and you shouldn't also have to haggle or wait months to get your refund." If passengers don't get refunds promptly for cancelled flights, "we will act to hold airlines accountable on behalf of American travellers and get passengers their money back", he warned.
SpiceJet reports net loss of Rs 837.8 crore

Total revenue for the reported quarter was Rs 2,104.7 crore as against Rs 1,538.7 crore in the same quarter of the previous year. For the same comparative period, operating expenses were Rs 2,942.6 crore as against Rs 2,100.4 crore. On an EBITDA basis, loss was Rs 413.59 crore for the reported quarter as against a loss of Rs 106.4 crore for the quarter ended September FY2022.
Ukraine conflict impact: Asia-Pacific airlines' cargo volumes dip 10.7% in Sep

Latest data by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) showed that airlines in the region continue to be impacted by the conflict in Ukraine, labour shortages, and lower levels of trade and manufacturing activity due to Omicron-related restrictions in China. It said that available capacity in the region increased by 2.8 per cent compared to 2021.
Indigo reports net loss of Rs 15,833 million in Q2 FY22-23

Total income for the quarter ended September 2022 was Rs 128,523 million, an increase of 121.6 per cent over the same period last year. For the quarter, passenger ticket revenues were Rs 111,104 million, an increase of 135.6 per cent and ancillary revenues were Rs 12,872 million, an increase of 57.4 per cent compared to the same period last year.

Consolidation of these two airlines, both of which operate as low-cost carriers, will be undertaken as part of the restructuring roadmap that is being envisioned for the Tata Group's airline business and is expected to bring customer, revenue, cost and operational benefits through broader adoption of each airlines' best practices, systems and routes, and the combined entity's greater scale.
Probe into IndiGo incident reveals engine number 2 stalled

A senior DGCA official said that on October 28, 2022 Indigo A320Ceo aircraft VT-IFM operating flight 6E-2131 (Delhi-Bengaluru) was involved in reject takeoff as Engine 2 Fail warning came. Loud bang was heard and the fire extinguisher bottle was discharged. Aircraft returned to the bay. It has been grounded for inspection, said the official.
Thai Airways to resume operations in Telangana from Oct 30

Lufthansa revenues almost doubles year-on-year

Adjusted earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) rose to 1.1 billion euros and were more than four times as high as in the same period last year,reports Xinhua news agency citing the carrier as saying on Thursday. In the previous quarter, Lufthansa had made a profit for the first time since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic.
