Go First case: Lessors' applications shown 'rejected' due to technical glitch, DGCA to Delhi HC
In a major blow to its passengers, the low-cost airline stopped flying on May 3 and is undergoing voluntary insolvency resolution proceedings before the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT). The DGCA said it was not processing such requests after a moratorium on financial obligations and transfer of assets of the crisis-hit airline post insolvency resolution proceedings.
Air India passenger assaults crew member on flight
In a statement issued by Air India, the airline said that a passenger on their flight AI882 on May 29 behaved in an unruly manner. "The said passenger verbally abused the crew members and then went on to physically assault one of them on board. On landing at Delhi airport, the passenger continued with the unprovoked, aggressive behaviour," said the Air India spokesperson.
Asiana stops selling A321-200 emergency seats after man opened door mid-air
Asiana Airlines halted the sale of the 26A seat of 11 A321-200s, which can carry 174 passengers, and that of the 31A seat of three A321-200s, which can accommodate 195 passengers, the company said in a statement.

Relief for Go Airlines as NCLAT upholds NCLT order
The NCLAT decided on the petitions filed by some lessors who had leased aircraft to Go Airlines. They had challenged the moratorium granted to Go Airlines by the NCLT. The lessors' contention was that the lease agreement with Go Airlines had ended before the NCLT admitted Go Airlines insolvency petition and hence, the airlines has no right over the leased planes.
NCLT to decide on Go Airlines insolvency petition on Wednesday
Blaming the global aircraft engine maker Pratt & Whitney of not providing spare engines for defective ones resulting in the grounding of nearly half of its fleet, Go Airlines had approached NCLT with a petition for resolution on May 2. Hearing the petition on May 4, the NCLT had reserved its orders.

"The risk of some other interested group making a bid for Go Airlines that may be attractive for the creditors is always there. Go Airlines might have gone to NCLT voluntarily with an intention to retain its assets, but the risk of facing rival bids does hang over the promoters heads like the Damocles sword," D. Varadarajan, Supreme Court advocate specialising in corporate laws, told IANS.
Go Airlines got premium refund for grounded aircraft
The airlines' total fleet size is 54 aircraft, out of which 27 have been grounded for more than a year, Kaushik Khona, Chief Executive Officer, Go Airlines, told IANS. "Last year, we got a refund of the premium paid for covering the aircraft hull. The refund was about 70 per cent. The insurer was New India Assurance," Khona told IANS.
