Zooom airlines or Zexus Air, initially established in April 2013, acquired its first aircraft, a Bombardier CRJ200.

In September 2022, the family had sold a tranche of 2.8 per cent worth Rs 2,000 crore and in February, it sold a 4 per cent stake for Rs 2,900 crore, as per media reports.

"The airline has now received regulatory approvals to operate its flights under the ‘Air India Express’ branding. This development marks a significant fast-tracking of the integration efforts, including harmonisation of customer touch points, products, and services across both airlines," the airline said in a statement. 

Top officials of Go Airlines had told IANS that the Wadia Group is interested in continuing with the airline business. The Wadia Group had approached the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) voluntarily to protect their leased planes from being repossessed in May 2023.

A DGCA official said that the special audit was focused on safety-related aspects, compliance with requirements for holding an Air Operator Certificate, and the physical verification of arrangements made for the resumption of flight operations. Indian low-cost carrier Go First, previously known as Go Air, temporarily ceased its operations on May 3, 2023.

These unsettling occurrences underscore the need for enhanced safety measures and stricter adherence to regulations within the aviation industry. One such incident took place in June, when a male passenger aboard an Air India flight from Mumbai to Delhi shocked fellow passengers and crew members by reportedly defecating and urinating inside the aircraft. 

During the departure of Air India flight AI-458 from Chandigarh to Leh, the Pilot in Command (PIC) allowed an unauthorised person to enter the cockpit. "The First Officer (co-pilot) failed to object to this unauthorised entry. After conducting an investigation, the DGCA has taken the following actions the PIC's pilot license has been suspended for one year, and the First Officer's pilot license has been suspended for one month," said an official.

The purchase agreement was finalised at the Paris Air Show 2023, with representatives from IndiGo and Airbus present. In a statement on Monday, IndiGo confirmed that the engine selection and the precise mix of A320 and A321 aircraft will be determined in due course.

According to traffic data shared by various airlines, in May 2022, the passenger count stood at 114.67 lakh, and in May 2023, it rose to 132.41 lakh, indicating a month-on-month growth of 15.24 per cent. Furthermore, the overall passenger number in May 2023 increased by 3.26 lakh (2.52 per cent) compared to April 2023.

The decision came after the airline received a complaint from the cabin crew, who raised concerns about the violation of cockpit regulations. In response to the incident, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) stated that they are aware of the issue, and appropriate measures are being implemented in accordance with established procedures.
