An operational review process is underway with a view to ultimately integrating AAI fully with Air India Express (AIXL). Consolidation of these two airlines, both of which operate as low-cost carriers, will be undertaken as part of the restructuring roadmap that is being envisioned for the Tata Group's airline business and is expected to bring customer, revenue, cost and operational benefits through broader adoption of each airlines' best practices, systems and routes, and the combined entity's greater scale.

"SIA is currently in confidential discussions with Tata to explore a potential transaction in relation to the securities of Vistara and Air India Ltd, a subsidiary of Tata (the 'Potential Transaction'). The discussions seek to deepen the existing partnership between SIA and Tata, and may include a potential integration of Vistara and Air India," said the Singapore airline in a statement on Thursday.

Official data indicate that domestic passengers carried by Indian carriers shot up by 66.73 per cent - from 343.37 lakh to 572.49 lakh - in the first six months of 2022, marking a whopping monthly growth of 238 per cent. The role played by Indian domestic carriers is phenomenal with major airlines like Air India, SpiceJet, IndiGo, Vistara, Go First, FlyBig, Alliance Air and StarAir virtually raking in the moolah with impressive passenger load factors.

Air India fined Rs 10 lakh for denying boarding despite valid tickets

After going through the airline's submissions, as part of enforcement action, the DGCA has levied the penalty, and has advised the airline to immediately put systems in order to resolve the issue. The action by the regulator comes after multiple reports of flyers being denied boarding by airlines despite being in possession of valid tickets and reporting at the airport on time.

Wilson is currently the CEO of Singapore Airlines' subsidiary Scoot Air. Singapore Airlines (SIA) is a joint venture partner of Tata Group in full-service carrier Vistara. "This afternoon I informed the executive team and your union leaders of my resignation from Scoot and the SIA Group," he said to the employees to Scoot through a communique, which reportedly was his farewell letter.
