Afghan Embassy, Consulates to remain open, say envoys after meeting MEA officials
In a post on X, Afghanistan's Consul General in Mumbai, Zakia Wardak, said on Friday that she along with acting Consul General Sayed Mohammad Ibrahimkhil had met senior MEA officials on October 4, during which it was made clear that the Afghanistan Embassy in Delhi and both the Consulates in Mumbai and Hyderabad will remain open and continue their operations for the benefit of its citizens.

The UN said that the aim of the meet was to "reinvigorate international engagement around key issues, such as human rights, in particular women's and girls' rights, inclusive governance, countering terrorism and drug trafficking. The meeting is intended to achieve a common understanding within the international community on how to engage with the Taliban on these issues".
Tremor effect: Building tilt complaints keep Delhi Fire Department on toes
According to Delhi Fire Service (DFS) Director Atul Garg, a call about tilting of a building was received in Shakarpur area on Vikas Marg in east Delhi. "This seems to be a good intention call, no tilt was found in the building, the call given by the neighbour as occupants of the building are not aware about the call," he said.

Sex ratio improved to 1,020 females per 1,000 males: Eco Survey
The sex ratio at birth, i.e., female children per 1,000 male children born in the last five years, has also grown from 919 in 2015-16 to 929 in 2019-21, the Survey noted. To prevent gender-biased sex-selective elimination and survival and protection of the girl child, the government has made specific interventions through the 'Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao' (BBBP) scheme. The sex ratio at birth for children born in the last five years has improved in 2019-21 from 2015-16 in all states except for a few.
Unequivocal stand against terror essential to protect civilians in urban conflicts: India
Speaking at a debate on protecting civilians in urban settings on Tuesday, India's Permanent Representative T.S. Tirumurti said, "It is a matter of concern that the parties to the armed conflicts till this day seem to consider civilian population and civilian infrastructure as legitimate targets. Such despicable approach has resulted in maiming and killing of thousands and rendering millions homeless."
