Sukhwinder Singh who works in the US embassy in Kabul says chaos like situation prevails in Kabul's streets and all are in a hurry to leave Afghanistan. He said he was evacuated on the night of August 14 with the intervention of an Indian Embassy official when the situation started worsening. He said he had been living in Doha since then. "Most of the people trapped there were evacuated," he added.
Afghan students assured of safe stay at AMU

Vice-Chancellor Professor Tariq Mansoor assured the Afghan students studying at the AMU of all help and cooperation. "They need not worry about their stay and studies as the university will take all necessary measures to ensure their safety, security, and comfortable stay at the university campus," he said. The students also showed concern about the scholarship arrangements.

Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee chairman Manjinder Singh Sirsa said, "All our families are safe inside the Gurdwara, although there was some movement yesterday. Around 300 people are absolutely safe." "Nothing happened to anyone. About 150 Sikhs are not in the Gurdwara premises, they are at different places. The people who have stayed inside and around the Gurdwara are absolutely safe. I am in constant touch with them," he said.

In a tweet, Congress spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala said, "This is most distressing and alarming. This was exactly the reason why Congress urged upon Modi government to evacuate all Indians and not abdicate its responsibility. Hope Modi government takes note now and act decisively to safely bring back all our citizens." The local media reported that the Taliban has captured over 150 people, mostly Indians.

The sources said that the IAF's C-130J transport plane landed in Tajikistan for refuelling and is likely to arrive at the Hindon Air Force Station in Ghaziabad on Saturday evening, they added. Fearing that the Taliban militia may prevent the Afghan public representatives from boarding the IAF flight, the entire plan was kept secret till the aircraft took off from Afghanistan, the sources further said.

Some Afghan nationals said they have been told by the embassies that they will accept them as refugees in their countries and give them visas. Muskan, an Afghan citizen, told IANS, "We got a message from them that you come to the embassy, you will get a form to fill, while we will cooperate with all the Afghan citizens in Delhi."
