Gautam was facing severe criticism from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for his presence at the event, where hundreds of people abandoned Hinduism to adopt Buddhism, and the opposition party demanded his resignation, accusing that the ruling Aam Aadmi Party of hurting sentiments. A Delhi BJP delegation also filed a complaint against the minister.

Court grants bail to Amanatullah Khan in Delhi Waqf Board case
Special Judge Vikas Dhull of Rouse Avenue Court on Tuesday had set Wednesday for pronouncing the order on Amanatullah Khan's bail application after hearing the submissions of parties. A detailed order is expected to be made available later. On Monday, the court sent Khan, who was arrested on Spetember 16, to 14 days' judicial custody.
Amanatullah Khan sent to 14-day judicial custody in Waqf board graft case
Amanatullah Khan was arrested on September 16. He was produced before the Rouse Avenue Court at the end of his five-day custodial interrogation by the Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) which was allowed by the court on September 21. According to the top Anti-Corruption Branch sources, the first FIR into the case was registered in January 2020 under section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act read with section 120 B of the Indian Penal Code.
Stalemate ends as Punjab Governor calls Assembly session
A letter from Governor Banwarilal Purohit read that in exercise of powers conferred upon him by virtue of Clause (1) of Article 174 of Constitution, he is summoning the session on September 27 at 11 am. A day earlier, Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema said it was condemnable that the Governor had sought details of legislative business for the proposed Assembly session.
Amanatullah Khan sent to 5 more days of police custody
During the course of the hearing, public prosecutor Atul Shrivastav submitted that the money in relation to the case had been transferred to Dubai. The present case pertains to certain illegal appointments made by AAP MLA Khan in the Delhi Waqf Board during his tenure from March 2016 to October 2016, and these appointments were made by him in violation of provisions of the Waqf Act as well as the rules.
AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan sent to four-day police custody
Amanatullah was placed under arrest by the ACB on Friday. The ACB had sought 14-day police custody of Amanatullah, but the court after hearing the arguments granted four-day custody of the AAP leader. It has been alleged that while working as the Chairman of Delhi Waqf Board, Amanatullah illegally recruited 32 persons violating all norms and government guidelines. He has been accused of indulging in corruption and favouritism.
3 separate FIRs lodged after ACB raids, AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan's aide arrested
Apart from registration of FIRs, the police have arrested the AAP MLA's close aide Hamid Ali (54), a resident of Jamia Nagar in Arms Act case. Notably, Khan was also arrested on Friday. "One illegal weapon and some live cartridges were recovered from Hamid Ali's house. He was arrested in this case," Deputy Commissioner of Police (southeast) Esha Pandey said. The second FIR was registered against Kaushar Imam Siddique alias Laddan, a resident of Jogabai Extension, also under the Arms Act.
Gun, ammunition, cash recovred from aides of AAP MLA Amanatullah
Sources said that the aide of Amanatullah failed to produce a licence for the gun seized in the raid. "The gun, live cartridges and cash to the tune of Rs 12 lakh have been recovered from the premises of Hamid Ali, an associate of Amanatullah," said the source. On Thursday, Amanatullah was summoned by the ACB to join the investigation in connection with an ongoing probe into criminal conspiracy and criminal breach of trust by public servants.
