Nikhil Kamath, Co-Founder & CFO of discount brokerage Zerodha, declared India as the "coolest party in town" for global investors at the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit. Kamath highlighted the evolution of India's entrepreneurship and the prospering startup ecosystem under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He cautioned foreign investors that arriving too late might result in missing out on opportunities in the country.
Kamath noted a significant change in the past decade, with entrepreneurship transitioning from a distant aspiration to an active pursuit for many in India. He emphasized the incredible growth of the startup ecosystem and the vibrancy of India's entrepreneurial landscape.
While in the past, Indians would emigrate to the West for better opportunities, Kamath highlighted a shift where those who left the country are now talking about India as a story they fear missing out on. He expressed pride in witnessing the positive change and emphasized that India has already "arrived," contrary to the perception that it is arriving in the next 5-10 years.
