Amazon to cut its Appstore share to help small developers

After Apple and Google, Amazon has now announced to let small developers earn more by reducing its cut in Appstore revenue. Starting in Q4, for developers that earn less than $1 million in revenue in the previous calendar year, Amazon said it is increasing developer revenue share and adding AWS (Amazon Web Services) credit options. This will bring total programme benefits up to an equivalent of 90 percent of revenue.
After Apple, FB set to launch podcast feature on June 22

The social media network is also likely to add a new feature that will allow listeners to create clips from their favourite shows. According to an email sent to podcast page owners and viewed by The Verge, hosts can link their show's RSS feed up to Facebook, which will then automatically generate News Feed posts for all episodes published moving forward.

Facebook begins health fact-check in India

During the pandemic, Facebook removed more than 18 million pieces of harmful misinformation across its platform and Instagram and labelled over 167 million fake news posts on Covid-19 with the help of third-party fact-checkers. The partnership with THIP "will enhance its capabilities to understand and curb health-related misinformation on the platform", the social media giant said in a statement.

India to have 330M 5G smartphone subscriptions in 5 years

Globally, 5G mobile subscriptions will exceed 580 million by the end of 2021, driven by an estimated one million new 5G mobile subscriptions every day, according to a report by Swedish telecommunications giant Ericsson. The average traffic per smartphone user in India has increased from 13GB per month in 2019 to 14.6GB per month in 2020. The average traffic per smartphone in the India region stands second highest globally.
