Huawei working on smartphones with rollable display

Smartphone maker filed a patent with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) for a new method for a controllable foldable display with haptic and sound effect, reports LetsGoDigital. Huawei would allow users to control the screen extension through physical finger swipes, complete with haptic feedback and audio alerts.
OPPO files 5G patent infringement suits against Nokia

According to GizmoChina, the patents involved in the lawsuit are all 5G standard essential patents. In the past, Nokia had filed numerous patent infringement complaints against smartphone brand OPPO regarding standard-essential patent (SEP) and non-SEP patents. Smartphone brands OPPO and Nokia had signed a multi-year licensing agreement back in 2018 and it appears that the contract is over, a recent report claimed.
Apple iPhone 13 to be announced on September 14

According to market research firm CyberMedia Research (CMR), MediaTek has made in-roads into the value for money 5G smartphone segment (Rs 7,001-Rs 24,999), while Qualcomm dominates the premium 5G smartphone segment (over Rs 25,000). The Vivo Y21s is priced at IDR 2,799,000 (approx Rs 14,000). It comes in pearl white and midnight blue colour options, reports Gizbot. In terms of specifications, the smartphone features a 6.51-inch HD+ display with 1600X720 pixel resolution, and a 20:9 aspect ratio. It is powered by the MediaTek Helio G80 chipset paired with 4GB RAM and up to 128GB internal storage.
WhatsApp will stop working for some Android, iOS phones from Nov 1

According to the information on the WhatsApp FAQ section, starting November 1 Facebook-owned texting platform will cease to support systems running on Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich, iOS 9, and KaiOS 2.5.0. The Android phones list released by WhatsApp includes smartphones from Samsung, LG, ZTE, Huawei, Sony, Alcatel, and others.
Redmi phone with Snapdragon 870 and 120Hz OLED panel may launch soon

According to Digital Chat Station, the upcoming Redmi phone comes with the model number SM8250 and it is tipped to be launched very soon, at least in the Chinese market before making its way to the Indian stores. The smartphone is likely to sport a 6.7-inch full HD+ OLED display. It will come with a 2400 x 1080 pixel resolution and 120Hz refresh rate support.

Samsung's smartphone chipset market share declines in Q2: Report
