The decision on Friday came after Russian authorities, who claim the app is illegal, threatened to prosecute local employees of Apple and Google, a sharp escalation in the Kremlin's campaign to rein in the country's largely uncensored internet. A person familiar with Googles decision said the authorities had named specific individuals who would face prosecution, prompting it to remove the app.

iPad mini's A15 Bionic chip isn't as fast as iPhone 13's
The chip is downclocked to 2.9GHz in the iPad mini, compared to 3.2GHz in all iPhone 13 models, that reduces performance by 2 per cent to 8 per cent in benchmark tests, reports MacRumors. In early Geekbench 5 results, the new iPad mini has average single-core and multi-core scores of around 1,595 and 4,540, compared to averages of around 1,730 and 4,660 for the iPhone 13 Pro.
Clubhouse working on new way to invite friends to rooms
According to screenshots shared by researcher Jane Manchum Wong, the invite feature, called "Waves", is focused on the more casual, social side of Clubhouse, reports The Verge. Waves would allow users to wave wave at friends with a button identical to the hand in Clubhouse's logo to invite them to chat. If they reply, they automatically get added to an audio room so you can talk.
WhatsApp users on stable iOS version receive multi-device support
Users on the latest 2.21.180.14 version of WhatsApp for iOS who have enrolled in the beta program will now get a multi-device prompt under the Linked Devices section within Settings, reports GSMArena. With the multi-device support, you do not have to keep your phone online. To enable multi-device beta on iOS, update to the latest version from App Store and select the multi-device prompt from Linked Devices section.
Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra to feature 14.6-inch OLED display: Report
According to tipster Ice Universe, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra (SM-X906B) will have a 14.6-inch OLED display with 120 Hz refresh rate. The display will have 2,960 x 1,848 px resolution (that's a 16:10 aspect ratio), reports GSMArena. The tablet will be powered by an 11,500 mAh battery and will come with 45W fast charging support.
Apple opens pre-orders for iPhone 13 series in India from Friday
The new iPhones will be open for pre-order at 5.30 p.m. through the Apple online store, e-commerce sites, and offline channels. All the four new iPhones will be available from September 24. The company unveiled the iPhone 13 series at the 'California Streaming' event on Tuesday. The pre-orders will go live in over 30 countries across the globe, including India, Australia, Canada, China, Germany, Japan, the UK, and the US.
iPhone 13 Pro offers 55% better graphics performance than iPhone 12 Pro
The iPhone 13 Pro was benchmarked, and it obtained 14216 points in the GPU category. In comparison, the iPhone 12 Pro from last year with its A14 Bionic accumulated 9123 points in the same test, reports MacRumors.
