Apple to allow third-party payments for 1st time in S Korea

The move came as a new law went into effect in the country in September last year, restricting app store operators, such as Google and Apple, from forcing their in-app payment systems on developers. In November, Google pledged to provide an alternative payment system on its app store in South Korea at a slightly reduced service charge in an apparent move to abide by the country's new law.
Nvidia acquires HPC software company Bright Computing

Founded in 2009 and headquartered in Amsterdam, leading HPC software company Bright Computing has customers that include names such as Boeing, NASA, Johns Hopkins University and Siemens, among others. Nvidia said in a statement late on Monday that it has been working with Bright for more than a decade as they integrated their software with "our GPUs, networking, CUDA and most recently DGX systems".

Uber no longer supports Apple Watch app: Report

Curiously, Uber has not removed the Uber Apple Watch app from the App Store, reports MacRumors. The app is still able to be downloaded and installed on an Apple Watch, but opening it up reveals a poorly-worded message about dropped support, ending with a sad face emoji. Uber has not updated its support site to reflect the change either, even though the app has been unavailable since around December 8, the report said.

Apple discontinues Beats Pill+ Bluetooth speaker

Apple expected to launch new iPhone in March 2022

According to Mark Gurman's Power On newsletter, Apple is expected to host its first major event of this year sometime in March or April, and similar to previous events, this one will also be conducted virtually, reports GizmoChina. The 2022 iPhone SE will reportedly launch in the first half of the year and feature 3GB memory, while the 2023 iPhone SE will feature more significant changes, including a larger display and 4GB memory.
Apple paid record $60 bn to App Store developers in 2021

In 2020, Apple said it had paid $200 billion to App Store developers to date. App Store's global platform connects businesses of all sizes with over 600 million people each week across 175 countries, Apple said in a statement late on Monday. It led to developers selling digital goods and services earning more than $260 billion since the App Store launched in 2008.
