Musk gains 6 mn followers amid $44 bn Twitter deal saga
The Tesla CEO likely had around 83 million followers before the Twitter deal. However, as of now, he has over 89 million followers on the microblogging site. Meanwhile, a report by Time said that Musk's follower count has been significantly boosted by fake accounts. According to audience research tool SparkToro, Musk has nearly 7 per cent more fake followers than the median 41 per cent that accounts with similar sized followings have.
Apple explains why it is removing outdated apps
Apple said that developers of apps that have not been updated within the last three years and fail to meet a minimal download threshold are receiving "an email notifying them that their app has been identified for possible removal from the App Store". It means that the "app has not been downloaded at all or extremely few times during a rolling 12 month period", it said in an update late on Friday.
PhonePe says NE took lead in digital transactions in Q1
The PhonePe Pulse trends also revealed that the first quarter of the year saw a spike in the peer-to-peer transaction (P2P) and person to merchant (P2M) transactions, and strong growth in both payment volumes as well as the number of registered users. While Samsung's shipments declined 3 per cent (on-year), it was the only top-five smartphone brand to grow quarter-on-quarter. The South Korean tech giant shipped 74 million units of smartphones over the January-March period. Its market share rose to 23 per cent from 19 per cent last quarter, resulting in Samsung taking the top spot from Apple in Q1 2022, according to Counterpoint Research.

WhatsApp likely working on multi-phone, tablet chatting
A screen found in a beta version of the app by the site WABetaInfo gives instructions for registering the device you are using as a "companion" by scanning a code with your main phone, though currently there does not appear to be an actual code to scan, reports The Verge. Meanwhile, a screen found in a previous beta showed that devices could be getting the ability to sync recent messages, even though they are end-to-end encrypted.
Smartphone app that could help screen neurological disease at home
The app uses a near-infrared camera, which is built into newer smartphones for facial recognition, along with a regular selfie camera to track how a person's pupil changes in size. These pupil measurements could be used to assess a person's cognitive condition, indicated the study, to be presented at the ACM Computer Human Interaction Conference on Human Factors in Computing Systems (CHI 2022).

According to The Verge, the report, which included researchers from the University of Washington concluded that Amazon and third parties (including advertising and tracking services) collect data from interactions with Alexa through Echo smart speakers and share it with as many as 41 advertising partners.
Elon Musk discussed 'job cuts' at Twitter with bankers
The Washington Post reported that Musk discussed making "efficiencies" at the micro-blogging platform in the conversations with bankers, "which could include job cuts." Twitter or its CEO Parag Agrawal have not commented on the reports. Agrawal had told employees that there would be "no layoffs at this time".
