Meta's 'Quest Pro' VR headset surfaces online before launch
The images and, later, a video of the VR headset surfaced online, posted on Facebook by Ramiro Cardenas, who claims the device was left in a hotel room, reports The Verge. The device featured matches the Project Cambria headset Meta has been openly touting since late last year, and it resembles the setup videos that have surfaced online.
Apple makes iPhone 14 series more climate-friendly with recycled elements
The Taptic Engine uses haptic technology to provide users with tactile feedback to simulate actions, such as clicks on a stationary touch screen. According to the company, iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max are designed to minimise their impact on the environment. "Both models also include 100 per cent recycled tin in the solder of multiple printed circuit boards, and 100 per cent recycled gold in the plating of multiple printed circuit boards and in the wire of all cameras," the company said.
Hacked verified Twitter accounts hit Elon Musk with crypto spams
Several of these accounts were bots but some were also hacked verified Twitter accounts. A Twitter user shared screenshots about Musk being bombarded with fake accounts on his latest tweet. "FSD Beta 10.69.2 rolling out now. Please note that top priority is safety, so expect it to be overly cautious, especially around pedestrians," Musk posted.
Apple now gears ups for new iPads, Macs and a VR headset
The tech giant earlier promised it would complete its transition to Apple Silicon in Macs by the end of this year. Apple has organised October events in 2020 and 2021 and the same is expected this time, reports AppleInsider. The 10th generation of iPad with A14 chip is coming, that will feature an all-new design that mimics the iPad Pro in terms of a flat design.
Apple delays iCloud shared photo library launch with iOS 16
Apple webpage now lists the feature as "coming later this year." Furthermore, it has also removed it from the latest iOS 16 betas, reports AppleInsider. Apple announced iCloud Shared Photo Library as part of iOS 16 to release on September 12. When it is launched, the feature will let you and up to five other people automatically share a collection of photos.
Elon Musk sends another notice to Twitter to kill $44 bn deal
According to The Verge, the notice was sent to Twitter's chief legal officer Vijaya Gadde. "On June 28, 2022, Twitter entered into a separation agreement with Peiter Zatko under which Twitter made severance payments to Zatko and his counsel totaling $7.75 million," the notice said.
WeChat warns overseas users that personal data, browsing history being sent to China
A number of overseas WeChat users received a notification on September 6, warning that "personal data (including) likes, comments, browsing and search history, content uploads, etc." will be transmitted to China. The notification also reminds users that their behaviour while using the app is subject to WeChat's licensing agreement and privacy policy.
Instagram to soon test new repost feature with select users
Although the company has not yet released the repost feature publicly, however, it plans to begin testing it with select users soon, reports TechCrunch. "We're exploring the ability to reshare posts in Feed - similar to how you can reshare in Stories - so people can share what resonates with them, and so original creators are credited for their work," a Meta spokesperson was quoted as saying in an email.
Apple takes on Musk's SpaceX with its satellite SOS on iPhones
Apple is reportedly investing $450 million toward creating satellite infrastructure with Globalstar. The tech giant has also agreed to pay for 95 per cent of the costs for new satellites associated with the feature, reports The Verge, quoting from a US SEC filing. Apple plans to use Globalstar's 24-satellite constellation to run its emergency SOS via satellite service.
YouTube to make educational content more accessible, interactive
"To improve the YouTube experience in educational environments, we are launching YouTube Player for Education -- a new YouTube embedded player that shows content on commonly used education apps without distractions like ads, external links or recommendations," Jonathan Katzman, Director of Product Management, YouTube Learning, said in a blogpost.
