There are also discussions about former Salesforce co-CEO Bret Taylor potentially serving as a director on this new board, as indicated by reports from Bloomberg.

Significant investors such as Thrive Capital, Khosla Ventures, Tiger Global Management, and Sequoia Capital are reportedly advocating for Altman's return to OpenAI, emphasizing the potential for managerial and governance changes as per Altman's demands.

Amidst these developments, Anna Makanju, OpenAI's VP of global affairs, communicated to employees about the intense discussions taking place between OpenAI's management, the board, Altman, and interim CEO Emmett Shear.

In a parallel context, Microsoft recently announced its willingness to match OpenAI's compensation for employees interested in joining Altman's new advanced AI research lab at the tech giant, following the announcement by Satya Nadella about Altman and Greg Brockman's involvement in leading Microsoft's advanced AI research team. Nadella, however, hasn't ruled out the possibility of Altman returning to OpenAI in some capacity.
