Elon Musk's Tesla is set to open its second store in India, this time in Delhi, on August 11 — just weeks after opening its first one in Mumbai.
Announcing the rollout on X, the company said, "Coming to Delhi – stay tuned," with a pictorial teaser of its first appearance in the national capital. The new Tesla Experience Centre is going to be at the high-end Worldmark 3 complex in Aerocity, targeting customers in the entire NCR — one of India's most significant markets for electric mobility.
Tesla made its entry into India's retail arena last month in the form of its Mumbai showroom at the Maker Maxity mall in the Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC), as well as introducing its midsize electric SUV, the Tesla Model Y, which is priced from approximately ₹60 lakh. Deliveries will commence in the third quarter of the current year.
At the Mumbai unveiling, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis gave a warm welcome to Tesla in the state and urged the company to consider local R&D and manufacturing opportunities.
Model Y comes in two versions: a standard rear-drive with a 60 kWh battery that has a WLTP-approved range of 500 km, and the long-range rear-drive with a 75 kWh battery that has up to 622 km in a single charge. Deliveries for early customers will be prioritized for Mumbai, Pune, Delhi, and Gurugram buyers, with flat-bed truck transportation straight to customers' doorsteps.
Tesla has also reworked its website to facilitate vehicle registration across all union territories and states, expanding its presence beyond the first launch cities. Though the company offers its Full Self-Driving (FSD) option as a ₹6 lakh add-on, the sophisticated driver-assist feature will be introduced in India later on.
