The 'Make in India' iPhone 16 has been a much-awaited moment for the Apple lovers in India, which landed on Friday to be seen at places like Apple BKC in Mumbai, Apple Saket in New Delhi, and various authorized resellers. Though the customers were very aggressive and queued long lines from morning time, they managed to take their new devices.
Hundreds of customers queued up to collect their iPhone 16 series models from the two retail locations. The ones that made the cut are the iPhone 16, 16 Plus, 16 Pro, and 16 Pro Max. It included cities such as Ahmedabad, Surat, Madhya Pradesh, Nagpur, Indore, Bengaluru, Goa, Nashik, Nanded; and the customers camped overnight to get it right on the day of the launch.
"I have come to Surat especially to purchase the iPhone 16 Pro. I have been doing this for the last few years on the launching day. The whole family, including me, has iPhones," said one enthusiastic buyer, who had pre-booked his device online.
Many customers wanted the popular 'Desert Titanium' colour badly. One buyer wrote, "I'm buying the iPhone 16 Pro for the whole family. We have been using iPhones since the very first model; we cannot use anything else," carrying multiple iPhone boxes.
The premium trends of pre-ordering saw most customers sporting the box of the iPhone 16 Pro Max with pride. There were also long queues in Apple Saket where staff were celebrating the first buyers of the new iPhones and the Watch Series 10.
One customer came in at 4 am and stated, "I have been using iPhones for five years; I never feel I have wanted to upgrade with every new release. Am excited about the new features, especially improved zoom and camera.".
Pre-orders for iPhone 16 in the 'Make in India' series have picked up strongly. Industry checks say the new series is likely to even beat the records made by the previous series. Sales are said to be on the higher side for the Pro versions of iPhone 16, which are perceived to be more of the same, only more competitive in pricing compared to the last series.
Analysts are predicting an exciting set of upgrades for Apple in India this year, primarily driven by government initiatives on local manufacturing. The iPhone 16 models are arriving and are simultaneously launched in India and globally.
