L&T Ventures into Fabless Semiconductor Chip Designing

L&T aims to focus on the design aspect of fabless semiconductor chips, as it can lead to patentable innovations and offer significant value.

Larsen & Toubro (L&T) is venturing into the field of fabless semiconductor chip design by establishing a wholly-owned subsidiary with an investment of up to Rs 830 crore. The company's board has given approval for this expansion into the semiconductor chip design business.

L&T aims to focus on the design aspect of fabless semiconductor chips, as it can lead to patentable innovations and offer significant value. The company has chosen not to enter the competitive manufacturing space, particularly against global manufacturers, especially those in China.
