Lava has added a new member to its Play series in India with the arrival of the Lava Play Ultra 5G, coming after the Blaze AMOLED 2. The smartphone has been created with gaming enthusiasts in mind, and it promises great performance, a colorful display, and lasting software updates—all at an affordable cost.
The Play Ultra 5G features a 6.67-inch flat AMOLED display with Full HD+ resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, and 1000 nits peak brightness, providing silky smooth visuals and fair readability in various lighting conditions. For imaging, it features a 64MP Sony IMX682 main sensor with OIS and a 5MP macro camera at the back, while the 13MP front-facing camera takes care of selfies and video calls. The camera application provides several modes such as Night, HDR, Pro Video, Dual View Video, Panorama, Macro, Slow Motion, and Time Lapse.
Performance comes courtesy of the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 chip, which is manufactured on a 4nm process, in conjunction with an integrated Mali-G615 MC2 GPU. Lava boasts its MediaTek HyperEngine technology enhances gaming with up to 20% higher frame rates and smoother graphics, in addition to optimizing battery efficiency for longer gaming sessions.
The phone is available in 6GB and 8GB LPDDR4X RAM variants, both having 128GB UFS 3.1 storage, expandable to a maximum of 1TB by microSD. It also offers an additional 8GB of virtual RAM. It ships with Android 15, with a guaranteed two major OS upgrades and three years of security patching—along with the added advantage of being totally free of bloatware.
The device is powered by a 5000mAh battery, complemented by 33W fast charging. Connectivity options include 5G SA/NSA, dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, and multi-system GPS. Additional highlights include stereo speakers, in-display fingerprint sensor, USB Type-C audio, and an IP64 rating for dust and water proofing.
Pricing begins at ₹14,999 for the 6GB + 128GB model, with the 8GB + 128GB priced at ₹16,499. Customers who pay using ICICI, SBI, or HDFC Bank credit cards will be eligible for an instant discount of ₹1,000, reducing the effective prices to ₹13,999 and ₹15,499. The Play Ultra 5G comes in Arctic Frost and Arctic Slate colors only on Amazon.in from August 25, with Lava also providing Free Service@Home in India.
