Apple has announced that its new series of iPhones, iPhone 16e, is being produced in India for local sales and exports to some countries, the company confirmed on Thursday.
The iPhone 16e is more budget-friendly than the iPhone 16 series, which will be available in the Indian market from February 28.
Pre-ordering for the iPhone 16e will begin on Friday, February 21, and the phone will be available through both the Apple Store and its authorized partners from February 28 onwards.
Apple replied in answer to a question on Thursday, "The whole iPhone 16 series, including iPhone 16e, is being manufactured in India for Indian customers as well as for export to certain countries.
On Wednesday, Apple had launched the iPhone 16e series, priced at Rs 59,900 and above.
The phone runs on the A18 chip, Apple Intelligence, and comes with a 48MP Fusion camera that has an in-built 2x Telephoto lens. The iPhone 16e also has satellite connectivity for features such as Emergency SOS, Roadside Assistance, and Messages.
The 'Find My' app is also used to share the user's location through satellite when they are out of cellular range.
