India's Tablet Market Surges 41% in on-Quarter Growth, 5G Shipments Soar by 86% Year-on-Year

The report by CyberMedia Research (CMR) highlighted an impressive 86 per cent year-on-year (YoY) growth in 5G tablet shipments during Q3, constituting 16 per cent of the overall tablet shipments.

In the third quarter of this year, India's tablet market exhibited a remarkable 41 per cent quarter-on-quarter (QoQ) growth, propelled by a surge in demand for 5G tablets and premium models, as outlined in a recent report released on Tuesday.

The report by CyberMedia Research (CMR) highlighted an impressive 86 per cent year-on-year (YoY) growth in 5G tablet shipments during Q3, constituting 16 per cent of the overall tablet shipments. The premium tablet PC segment, encompassing devices priced at Rs 30,000 and above, experienced robust growth with shipments surging by 79 per cent QoQ.

However, despite these positive trends, the overall tablet market faced a 10 per cent decline YoY. Leading the market share was Apple with 26 per cent, registering a substantial 20 per cent YoY growth. Following closely were Samsung at 21 per cent and Lenovo at 20 per cent. Xiaomi, despite starting from a modest base, demonstrated significant growth with a remarkable 98 per cent YoY increase during the period.

Menka Kumari, Analyst-Industry Intelligence Group (IIG) at CMR, noted, "The robust growth of Apple, coupled with standout performances from Realme and Xiaomi, signals a significant shift in consumer preferences at both the premium and value-for-money end of the tablet PC market."

With the ongoing proliferation of 5G technology, Kumari anticipates an increasingly dynamic and seamless user experience across a diverse range of applications and services.

Looking ahead, the overall tablet market in India is predicted to experience single-digit YoY growth in 2023. Kumari emphasized, "The substantial growth in market shares for key players like Apple, Realme, and Xiaomi reflects a growing demand for diverse tablet options in India."
