Smartphone exports from the country have, for the first time, crossed over Rs 20,000 crore mark in a month, surpassing all time previous records. According to data furnished by companies as well as collated information from industry associations.
Smartphone exports in November stood at Rs 20,395 crore, which is a mind-boggling 92 per cent jump from the same month last year, when the figure was Rs 10,634 crore.
The market leaders in this pack happened to be Apple iPhones. Next in the list was Samsung, the giant of South Korea. Together, they cornered most of November's exports. Queries sent to Apple Inc and Samsung India did not elicit any response.
