India's Semiconductor Market Poised to Exceed $100 Billion by 2030: Government

India's semiconductor demand, which stands at an estimated $45-50 billion, is likely to grow to $100-110 billion by 2030, said S. Krishnan, Secretary of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY).

While speaking at the Nano Electronics Roadshow in Bengaluru, Krishnan pointed to the key contribution of MeitY's Nano Centers in fueling innovation and creating skilled human resources. He stressed the vision of creating a semiconductor-ready manpower base of 85,000 trained professionals.

"With almost 70-75 percent of the capital for large semiconductor plants being contributed by taxpayers, all Indians have a stake in this endeavor," he said.

Adding to this, Abhishek Singh, Additional Secretary at MeitY, said, "Under the India AI mission, through the INUP program and other programs, start-ups, entrepreneurs, and researchers are solving real-world problems, putting India at the forefront of technological developments. With the path-breaking efforts of institutions such as IISc, IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, and others, we are building an ecosystem to keep India at the forefront of this revolution."

Showcasing Innovation

The roadshow showcased more than 100 intellectual properties (IPs), over 50 disruptive technologies, and innovations from more than 35 start-ups.

Four Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) were signed at the event to enhance collaboration and facilitate technological advancements. These MoUs were signed between IISc and KAS Technologies, IISc and Antigone Solutions Private Limited, the Center for Nano Science and Engineering and the India Electronics & Semiconductor Association (IESA), and Madnani Chemdist Novatech LLP with Primary Healthtech Private Limited.
