Of the segments, notebooks had a strong 13.8% growth, while workstations jumped 30.4%. High-end notebooks with prices above $1,000 increased by 8% in January-March. AI notebooks, however, had a sharp 185.1% jump, although this is compared to a relatively small base.

The consumer market grew 8.9% in Q1 2025 on the back of Republic Day sales and a big shipment lift in March through all channels.

The e-tail segment continued to perform well, posting 21.9% growth in the quarter. The commercial segment too witnessed growth of 7.5%, which was spurred primarily by growing enterprise demand for commercial notebooks, as per the report.

"Bharath Shenoy, research manager of IDC India and South Asia, said, "The consumer PC market had one more upbeat quarter driven by e-tail channel and focused offline expansion."

PC vendors are increasing reach for customers in India through increased offline availability by opening new brand outlets, increasing their presence in large format retail (LFR), and providing enticing discounts and cashback deals online.

Shenoy also mentioned, "While healthy shipments show positive momentum in the market, the corresponding increase in channel inventory is a challenge in the near term."
