According to media reports, Google is all prepared to start a manufacturing process for its Pixel smartphones in India and will export units to Europe and the US. The production is most likely to begin within this month in collaboration with Foxconn and Padget Electronics—a subsidiary of Dixon Technologies.
Currently, Google has started trial production in Tamil Nadu with Foxconn, which is one of the leading manufacturers of Apple devices.

Reports have said that this development will be officially announced by Google in the second half of this year. The base variant pixel phone would be produced by Dixon Technologies while Foxconn would be in charge of producing the Pro variant.
Commercial production is expected to begin in September, with exports starting once production stabilizes.
This strategic move has also fallen in line with the production-linked incentive program of the Indian government, aimed to augment domestic manufacturing, the reports stated.
Meanwhile, Apple exported iPhones worth more than Rs 16,500 crores during the first two months of the current financial year that made for more than 80 percent of the country's total iPhone production.
Foxconn accounted for about 65 percent of this total exports.
In fiscal year 2024, Apple produced approximately $14 billion worth of iPhones.

According to the data by the India Cellular and Electronics Association, the production of mobile phones increased from Rs 18,900 crore in 2014-15 to an estimated Rs 4.10 lakh crore in FY24. This is an increase of about 2,000 per cent, catalysed by the PLI scheme.
