Former Twitter Chief Parag Agrawal Initiates Legal Action Against Elon Musk, Met with Emoji Response

Agrawal, along with Ned Segal, the former Chief Financial Officer, Vijaya Gadde, the former Head of Legal and Policy, and Sean Edgett, the former General Counsel of Twitter, collectively filed the lawsuit against the billionaire entrepreneur.

Parag Agrawal, an Indian-origin individual who formerly served as the CEO of Twitter (now rebranded as X), has taken legal action against Elon Musk, along with three other former employees, seeking approximately $128 million in unpaid severance.

Agrawal, along with Ned Segal, the former Chief Financial Officer, Vijaya Gadde, the former Head of Legal and Policy, and Sean Edgett, the former General Counsel of Twitter, collectively filed the lawsuit against the billionaire entrepreneur.

Elon Musk's response to the situation was succinct, limited to just an emoji, after a follower remarked: “Parag Agrawal is suing Elon Musk claiming that he did in fact get a lot done that week”.

The lawsuit alleges that Musk exhibited particular animosity towards them by publicly declaring his intention to withhold their severance payments, valued at approximately $200 million, upon his acquisition of Twitter in 2022 for $44 billion.

“Under Musk’s control, Twitter has become a scofflaw, stiffing employees, landlords, vendors, and others. Musk doesn’t pay his bills, believes the rules don’t apply to him, and uses his wealth and power to run roughshod over anyone who disagrees with him,” the lawsuit, filed in the US District Court for the Northern District of California, asserted.

In October 2022, Musk terminated the employment of Agrawal, Gadde, and Segal. Reports indicate that the departing executives were entitled to exit packages totaling more than $100 million.

Agrawal was expected to receive the largest sum, around $40 million, primarily because all of his shares were set to vest upon termination.
