Apple has rolled out some major updates with its latest iOS update, geared at wooing users in India. With a slew of new features for users in this country, this update, iOS 18, will definitely take the iPhone experience up by a notch.
It also allows choosing Indian numerals, facilitates customizing the time display on the lock screen in 12 languages, font colors, and weights so that users can create personalized Contact Posters.
iOS 18 also brings to the table Live Voicemail Transcription in Indian English and support for Live Caller ID; it also enhances the phone dial pad with smart call history search capabilities for a more intuitive dialing experience.
One of the top-line changes will be the "multilingual keyboard". For example, with iPhone 12, consumers will be capable of phonetically typing in the Latin character system in English and any other Indian language, including up to a maximum of two chosen, improving predictive typing in Messages, Notes, and any other app.
QuickPath and Emoji Prediction are also there in the multilingual keyboard. Besides, it has introduced alphabetical layouts for typing directly in Indian scripts across 11 languages, including Bangla, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu. They would adjust dynamically depending on the input by the user, and characters could be quickly selected with this feature.
This goes in line with iOS 18, which will include language search at a more enhanced level, multilingualism in Siri, updates to the Translate and Move to iOS apps, and so on.
These new additions will further bridge the gap between the distance that an Apple iPhone has with the aim in India to be a more personal, capable, and intelligent—one that proves the commitment toward bettering user experience with the localization of features and functionalities.
