Will drop lawsuit if OpenAI changes name to ClosedAI: Elon Musk

Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA) and SpaceX, announced his willingness to drop the lawsuit against OpenAI if the organization rebranded itself as 'ClosedAI'. This development comes in the midst of a legal battle initiated by Musk against the makers of ChatGPT, alleging a breach of their original contractual agreements concerning artificial intelligence (AI).

"We're setting the record straight regarding our relationship with Elon Musk, and we are preparing to challenge all of his claims," OpenAI announced on X. In response, Musk proposed, "Change your name to ClosedAI, and I'll withdraw the lawsuit."

Furthermore, Musk criticized OpenAI's integrity, insisting that the organization should "stop living a lie," in a reply to a post on 'X'.

In a recent blog post, OpenAI disclosed Musk's demands for majority equity, initial board control, and the CEO position. Amidst negotiations, Musk allegedly withheld funding, leading to a breakdown in discussions.

The co-founders of OpenAI, including Greg Brockman, Ilya Sutskever, John Schulman, Sam Altman, and Wojciech Zaremba, emphasized their refusal to accept terms that would grant Musk absolute control over the organization. They reiterated their commitment to the mission of OpenAI, which they believe is incompatible with any individual holding unchecked authority.

Following these disputes, Musk departed from OpenAI, citing the necessity for a viable competitor to Google/DeepMind and expressing his intention to pursue this endeavor independently. Despite his departure, Musk pledged his support for OpenAI to chart its own course forward.
