ChatGPT Captures 60% of AI Industry's 24 Billion Traffic: Report

A recent report has highlighted the dominance of OpenAI's chatbot, ChatGPT, in the artificial intelligence (AI) industry, capturing a staggering 60% of the total traffic among the top 50 AI tools. Compiled by Sujan Sarkar at writerbuddy.ai, the report utilized SEMrush, a reputable SEO tool, to analyze data from over 3,000 AI tools, focusing on the top 50 most visited tools, which accounted for more than 80% of the industry's traffic between September 2022 and August 2023.

The findings reveal that the AI industry experienced remarkable growth, with an average of two billion monthly visits over the past year, surging to 3.3 billion in the last six months. Within this surge, ChatGPT emerged as the frontrunner, amassing a substantial 14 billion visits, representing 60% of the analyzed traffic.

Character AI and Google Bard also saw notable increases in net traffic, with 1.8 billion and 68 million visits, respectively, according to the report. Conversely, Craiyon, MidJourney, and Quillbot faced declines in traffic during the same period.

The United States contributed significantly to the industry's traffic, with 5.5 billion visits, making up 22.62% of the total. Meanwhile, European countries collectively accounted for 3.9 billion visits.

AI chatbot tools emerged as the most popular, attracting a total of 19.1 billion visits, and an interesting trend highlighted in the report is that over 63% of AI tool users accessed these tools via mobile devices.

The report also delved into gender data, revealing a notable disparity, with 69.5% of users identifying as male and 30.5% as female. These insights shed light on the evolving landscape of the AI industry and the preferences and demographics of its users.
