A group of indigenous startups and investors have decided to form an alliance named "Atmanirbhar Digital India Foundation (ADIF)", with an aim to break the market dominancd of internet giants like Google and Facebook, Times of India (TOI) reported.
The body will also be working to advise the government and the regulators of the technology sector on policy frameworks that are needed to help the growth of the digital economy in India.
The formation of ADIF has roots in the controversial billing policy of Google in India that demands a 30% share of in-app purchase amounts. The billing issue reached the government and a probe regarding the same is underway.
Though Google has paused the implementation of its policy, the announcement of it made the Indian internet firm join hands to ally against Big Tech firms.
The new alliance formed by indigenous firms has set up a Trust that will be working for Indian companies for a level playing field.
Venture firm India Quotient founding partner Anand Lunia, Murugavel Janakiraman of Matrimony, Ritesh Mallik, founder of Innov8 Coworking, Sairee Chahal of Sheroes are among the members of ADIF.
