Conservative commentator Ashley St Clair trended after claiming on social media that she had given birth to Elon Musk's 13th child five months ago. In an interview with the New York Post, St Clair explained how her supposed relationship with the Tesla CEO got her into a life of secrecy.
The 26-year-old writer and influencer said that Musk, 53, was "funny" and "down to earth," but noted that he would not let them reveal their child's existence due to safety considerations.
St Clair explained how she fell in love with Musk by chance online. "Musk was very funny. He was intelligent. He was very down to earth. It began through X interactions, and he slid into my DM's.". I believe it was a meme," she replied. While she had not had much interest in Musk, other than the fact that he bought Twitter, their bond developed when he asked whether she was ever in San Francisco or Austin. "I am in Austin and Texas fairly regularly for work," she replied, explaining that she was working for a conservative satirical news site then.
St Clair said that following Musk's revival of the site's account on Twitter after being suspended for eight months over a joke about a transgender Biden official, she was asked to fly to San Francisco to interview him. "The next thing, I received a text from him asking, 'Feel like driving to Providence tonight?'" she said, attributing this as the start of their romance.
When St Clair discovered that she was pregnant, she claimed that she was advised to hide it from everybody except a handful of people. "I was asked to keep it a secret. I was being asked to keep it a secret for all eternity. I was totally alone when I was pregnant. All aspects of my career and all the things that I used to do I could no longer do. I was asked not to tell anyone," she revealed.
St Clair alleged that Musk gave her a lavish flat and close protection, but not much romance. Though she felt isolated, she preferred to keep quiet to save her child. But when the tabloids started getting whiffs of her pregnancy, she decided to go public with the truth.
She further disclosed that she and her baby had encountered some of Musk's remaining 12 children and spent time with his mother, Maye Musk. Despite the disclosures, St Clair has chosen to conceal the baby's name. Musk has neither confirmed nor denied them.
