Apple Unveils $500 Billion US Investment Plan, Promises 20,000 New Jobs

"We are bullish on the future of American innovation, and we’re proud to build on our long-standing US investments with this $500 billion commitment to our country’s future," said Apple CEO Tim Cook in a press release on Monday.

Apple's investments will be substantial across a range of sectors, such as its supply base, direct hiring, Apple Intelligence infrastructure, data centers, corporate facilities, and Apple TV+ production across 20 states. The company also emphasized its contributions to taxes by noting that in the last five years, it has paid over $75 billion in US taxes, with $19 billion contributed just in 2024.

"From doubling our Advanced Manufacturing Fund to building advanced technology in Texas, we’re thrilled to expand our support for American manufacturing. And we’ll keep working with people and companies across this country to help write an extraordinary new chapter in the history of American innovation," Cook added.

New AI Server Facility in Texas
As part of its investment initiative, Apple made a declaration to launch a new state-of-the-art manufacturing plant in Houston, Texas. The plant will concentrate on the manufacturing of Apple Intelligence servers, which play a pivotal role in operating the company's personal intelligence system.

As per Apple's release, "Apple and partners will open a new advanced manufacturing plant in Houston to make servers supporting Apple Intelligence, the personal intelligence system that assists users in writing, communicating, and getting things done."

Server manufacturing will begin later this year, with the 250,000-square-foot facility opening in 2026. Apple anticipates the program to provide thousands of jobs. These AI servers, which were previously produced in countries outside the US, are important components of Apple Intelligence and Private Cloud Compute. The company highlighted that the servers are energy-optimized, helping power consumption be lower in Apple's 100% renewable energy-powered data centers.

Further, with the expansion of Apple Intelligence, the company is Lawfully increasing its data center operations across North Carolina, Iowa, Oregon, Arizona, and Nevada.
Apple also laid out plans to expand Apple Intelligence to other languages and regions, such as India. April is when the rollout will offer support for languages like French, German, Italian, Portuguese (Brazil), Spanish, Japanese, Korean, and Simplified Chinese. It will also launch localized English versions for Singapore and India.

Massive Plans for Hiring and Research Expansion
As part of its overall growth plan, Apple will create 20,000 new US jobs in the next four years. Apple currently sustains more than 2.9 million jobs in the US, ranging from direct employment to partnerships with domestic suppliers and manufacturers, and jobs in the iOS app development ecosystem.

Further cementing its dedication to innovation, Apple is doubling its US Advanced Manufacturing Fund and opening a new academy in Michigan to prepare future industry professionals. The company also aims to increase its research and development activities in silicon engineering, further deepening its hold on advanced technology.
