Young Sensations: Shreyanka, Mannat, Saika, Titas Receive Maiden Call-Ups to India's ODI Squad for Series Against Australia

Shreyanka Patil, an off-spin all-rounder, recently made her T20I debut against England, making a significant impact with five wickets, including a match-winning 3-19 in the third game.

India's ODI squad for the upcoming series against Australia, commencing on December 28 at the Wankhede Stadium, sees the inclusion of four new faces: Shreyanka Patil, Mannat Kashyap, Saika Ishaque, and Titas Sadhu.

Shreyanka Patil, an off-spin all-rounder, recently made her T20I debut against England, making a significant impact with five wickets, including a match-winning 3-19 in the third game. Left-arm spinner Saika Ishaque also had a noteworthy performance in the same series, claiming five wickets and delivering a decisive spell of 3-22 in the final game.

Mannat Kashyap and Titas Sadhu, both part of India's U19 Women’s T20 World Cup triumph, are also named in the ODI squad. While Mannat, a left-arm spinner, is yet to make her international debut, Titas has showcased her skills by taking four wickets in as many games and being a member of the gold-medal-winning team at the Asian Games.

The experienced Renuka Singh Thakur, who made a successful return to international cricket after a stress fracture injury, is back in the ODI set-up. Wicketkeeper-batter Richa Ghosh, who recently debuted in Tests against Australia, is also included in the squad.

Notably, the selection means that several experienced players, including Rajeshwari Gayakwad, Devika Vaidya, Uma Chetry, Priya Punia, Meghna Singh, Monica Patel, Anusha Bareddy, and Rashi Kanojiya, are not part of the ODI squad.

The three-match ODI series is crucial for India as they prepare for the 2025 Women’s ODI World Cup, where they will be the host nation. The series will be played at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai, starting on December 28, followed by matches on December 30 and January 02, 2024. The action will then move to DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai for the three T20Is on January 5, 7, and 9, respectively.
