In a heartfelt message, former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan extended his support and encouragement to his brother, ex-India all-rounder Yusuf Pathan, as he ventures into the political arena. The Trinamool Congress recently unveiled its list of 42 candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in 2024, among whom Pathan has been named to contest from the Baharampur constituency.

Yusuf, renowned for his aggressive batting style and off-spin bowling prowess, represented India in 79 matches across T20 and ODI formats from 2007 to 2012, amassing 1046 runs and claiming 46 wickets. His journey in the Indian cricket team began during the inaugural T20 World Cup held in South Africa in 2007, where he played a crucial role, notably in the tournament's finals.

Notably, Yusuf Pathan was part of the Indian squads that clinched the inaugural T20 World Cup in 2007 and the prestigious 2011 Cricket World Cup. He bid farewell to professional cricket in 2021, marking the end of a remarkable sporting career.
