India's pace king, Jasprit Bumrah, who missed the current Champions Trophy with a lower back niggle, is back bowling at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru.
The fast bowler posted a video on social media, which had him bowling in the nets. Posting with the caption "Progress every day" on Instagram, Bumrah generated much enthusiasm among the fans who have been waiting impatiently for his return to international cricket.
Bumrah last turned out for India in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, five-match series against Australia where he was very instrumental. He even led the side in the opening and closing Test when skipper Rohit Sharma was out of action.
Ruling the bowling statistics, he became the leading wicket-taker in the series as well, registering 32 wickets at an unbelievable average of 13.06. His highest scores in the series were 6-76, which was achieved during the third Test in Brisbane. He was, however, forced to withdraw during the last Test in Sydney.
After his injury, Bumrah missed India's home white-ball series against England before finally being excluded from the Champions Trophy.
Even in his absence, India's pace bowling attack, headed by Mohammed Shami, and supported by Harshit Rana and all-rounder Hardik Pandya, has worked well during the tournament. Bumrah, however, made a surprise visit to Dubai when India played its highly awaited game against Pakistan on Sunday, for which he received ICC Awards and Team of the Year caps in appreciation of his incredible performances throughout 2024.
Bumrah was awarded the ICC Men's Cricketer of the Year and the Sir Garfield Sobers Award for his remarkable work in 2024, in which he took 71 wickets in Test cricket at a remarkable average of 14.92.
His incredible performances also made him the Player of the Tournament award winner in the 2024 Men's T20 World Cup, conducted in the USA and the West Indies, where he took 15 wickets at an astonishing average of 8.26 and had a dashing economy rate of only 4.17.
Adding to his achievements, Bumrah was named ICC Men's Test Cricketer of the Year, being the quickest Indian bowler to achieve 200 Test wickets. He was also included in both the ICC Men's Test Team of the Year and the ICC Men's T20I Team of the Year.
In the future, Bumrah is determined to get back to full fitness for IPL 2025, when he will once again join the Mumbai Indians. The team will start their campaign against Chennai Super Kings at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on March 23.
