India and Pakistan share more than just their proximity on the map; they have a rich history of cricketing rivalry spanning several years. The debate over who holds the title of the better batsman between former Indian captain Virat Kohli and current Pakistani skipper Babar Azam is a perennial one. Adding his voice to this discussion is former Pakistani cricketer Danish Kaneria, who shared his insights ahead of the highly anticipated T20 World Cup clash between the two teams.
Kaneria expressed his opinion, stating, "As soon as Babar Azam scored a hundred the next day you’ll see comparisons with Virat Kohli. Virat k jute k barabar bhi nahi hai."
He highlighted Azam's recent performance and criticized Kohli's ability to handle certain bowlers, citing a specific instance where Kohli struggled after reaching 40 runs and failed to capitalize on his innings.
"USA Bowlers had him stuck, he was unable to play the bowlers. As soon as he reached 40 odd runs he got out. He should have stayed and won the game. Pakistan should have won the game one sided," he added.
Kaneria lamented Pakistan's loss in their tournament opener against the USA, where they fell short in a thrilling encounter that concluded with a super over.
The defeat showcased Pakistan's shortcomings across all aspects of the game, including an uncharacteristically poor performance by experienced bowler Mohammad Amir, who conceded 18 runs in the super over, including 7 extras. Looking ahead to the upcoming match against India, Kaneria predicted a challenging encounter for Pakistan, stating, "India will defeat them convincingly. They lack the capability to overcome India. Pakistan often relies on their bowling prowess in World Cup tournaments, but this strategy backfired in their first game."
Kaneria's comments underscore the intense scrutiny and anticipation surrounding matches between these two cricketing giants, with fans eagerly awaiting the showdown between India and Pakistan in the T20 World Cup.
"India will beat them badly. They are not capable of beating India. Whenever Pakistan come to the World Cup they keep praising their bowling and say that their bowling will win them the game but that was the reason they lost the first game,” predicted Kaneria whilst speaking on the upcoming game.
