Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat has decided to retire following her disheartening disqualification from the Olympics. She said that she had no strength left in her. The 29-year-old grappler was thrown out of the mega event for being 100 grams over the weight category just before her gold medal match in the 50kg category on Wednesday.
Ma, wrestling has won, I have lost. Please forgive, your dreams and my courage, everything is broken," Vinesh wrote in her retirement announcement, while addressing her mother, Premlata, on X. "I don't have any more strength now. Goodbye wrestling 2001-2024. I shall be indebted to you all. Forgive," she added.
