Cricketer Gautam Gambhir is set to reunite with Bollywood icon Shah Rukh Khan in his mentoring role for the IPL team Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), a team Gambhir led to victory twice. During a recent social media Q&A session, SRK expressed his sentiments, referring to Gambhir as a cherished member of the KKR family.
Responding to a fan's query about Gambhir's return to KKR, SRK, the team's owner, shared, “Kyunki @GautamGambhir humaara apna hai. KKR ka Captaan hai or family hai (Because @GautamGambhir is one of our own. He is the captain of KKR and family).”
This heartfelt acknowledgment from SRK resonated deeply with fans, given Gambhir's successful leadership of KKR in the Indian Premier League (IPL), leading the team to victory in 2012 and 2014, and still holding the record as their highest run-scorer.
After his stint with the Lucknow Super Giants, Gambhir returns as a mentor to his former team, evoking nostalgic sentiments. Reflecting on his comeback, Gambhir shared an emotional note on his social media platform, expressing, "I'm not typically swayed by emotions, but this feels different. It's a return to where it all began. There's a lump in my throat and an intense passion as I think about wearing that iconic purple and gold jersey again. I'm not just rejoining KKR; I'm returning to the city of joy. I'm back. I'm hungry. I am number 23. Ami KKR."
In a nod to his previous jersey number, 23, Gambhir proudly showcased a picture of himself in KKR's uniform, highlighting the number in golden letters on his back.
Meanwhile, Shah Rukh Khan is preparing for the release of his socio-political-comedy film 'Dunki,' directed by Rajkumar Hirani. The film is slated to hit theaters on December 22, coinciding with the release of Telugu star Prabhas’ action-packed movie ‘Salaar Part 1 – The Ceasefire.’ The clash between these highly anticipated films has sparked significant anticipation among fans and film enthusiasts.
