Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto believes his pacers and all-rounders can give India a tough time in their Champions Trophy opener in Dubai.
Before their Group A match at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Thursday, Shanto stressed the need to implement their plans properly against the two-time champions.
"We have some good memories against India. If we play our game, we have a good chance," Shanto mentioned during the pre-match media briefing.
Bangladesh will depend on their evenly-balanced attack of pacers and spinners, of whom promising young fast bowler Rana is one, who has impressed with 20 scalps in six Tests and four wickets in three ODIs.
With India having lost their pace ace Jasprit Bumrah to a lower back strain, Bangladesh is looking for an opportunity but is not targeting specific players.
Dubai's ODI statistics reflect an average score in the first innings of 218, which makes adaptability the key. Shanto has admitted that Bangladesh's batsmen have to adapt fast, taking heart from performances in the BPL.
The squad also anticipates good crowd support, as Shanto said, "We have a lot of supporters. We expect the crowd to come and support us."
