Sanju Samson Suffers Index Finger Fracture, Expected to be Out for 5-6 Weeks

After hitting a seven-ball 16-run knock, that pulled Mark Wood into the hands of Archer in India's 150-run win over that gave them a 4-1 series victory.

"Samson has fractured his right index finger. It will take him five to six weeks before he can resume proper nets. So there is no chance of him playing the Ranji Trophy quarter-final for Kerala (vs J&K) in Pune from February 8-12," a BCCI source informed PTI.

"In all likelihood, his comeback will happen in the IPL for Rajasthan Royals."

The injury sidelines Samson from Kerala's upcoming Ranji Trophy quarterfinal clash. The right hand batter has gone back to his hometown Thiruvananthapuram would undergo rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru.

He would require the green light from the NCA to return to action in time for the Indian Premier League for Rajasthan Royals in March, having managed 51 runs in five games in the five-match series against England.

Samson wasn't included in India's 15-member squad for the Champions Trophy by the BCCI selectors.

CT trophy tour ends in India

Meanwhile, the trophy tour for the ICC Champions Trophy has concluded in India after traveling through Mumbai and Bengaluru. The tournament is slated to commence from February 19 in Karachi.

"The Trophy Tour has traversed all eight participating nations in its global journey and, with the conclusion of India leg, it will now proceed to its final destination in Pakistan," the ICC said in a statement on Monday.
