At only 14 years of age, Vaibhav Suryavanshi has made cricket's biggest stars sit up and take notice after scoring an astonishing century in the IPL, earning universal praise for his fearless, natural game.
His match-winning innings for the Rajasthan Royals vs. Gujarat Titans—scoring an astounding 101 off 38 balls, and hitting a six off Rashid Khan—now makes him the youngest-ever centurion in T20 cricket, and one the cricketing fraternity couldn't help but notice.
The legendary Sachin Tendulkar, noticing Suryavanshi's excellent bat speed, his working out length early, and how well he transferred his energy behind the ball, took to 'X' to praise his performance. "Vaibhav's fearless intent, batting speed, early length judgement and transferring his energy behind the ball was the recipe behind a fabulous innings. End result: 101 runs off 38 balls. Well played!" Tendulkar wrote, recalling his own rise as a young prodigy.
In a Rajasthan Royals feel good moment, Suryavanshi broke the Indian record for fastest IPL century set by Yusuf Pathan. Suryavanshi's 35-ball century, was achieved by Pathan himself precisely 15 years ago with a 37-ball century.
"Many congratulations to young #VaibhavSuryavanshi for breaking my record of fastest @IPL hundred by an Indian! And great to see him doing it playing for @rajasthanroyals, as I used to!", Pathan posted, adding, "Actually special about having this franchise for kids. Long way to go champ!".
Veteran India legend Yuvraj Singh was also very generous with his praise, surprised by Suryavanshi's confidence in his approach to the game. "What were you doing at 14?!! This kid is batting against the world’s best bowlers like he isn’t even opening his eyes! Vaibhav Suryavanshi - remember the name! Playing with a fearless attitude. Proud to see the next generation shine!", Yuvraj shared on Twitter.
Former India opener Kris Srikkanth was another who could not hide his excitement, calling the young cricketer a "superstar-a-manifest". "Most kids at 14 just dream & eat ice cream. Vaibhav Suryavanshi saunters in a lovely 100 against 1 of the IPL! Composure, class, and guts beyond his years. We are seeing the emergence of a phenomenon. Indian cricket's next superstar has emerged", Srikkanth tweeted.
Mohammed Shami, the Indian fast bowler, also chimed in with his admiration for Suryavanshi's talent. "Vaibhav Suryavanshi, unbelievable talent. Scoring a century at 14 is unbelievable. Keep shining brother.
The third commentator, Ian Bishop, could not stop gushing about Suryavanshi's incredible performance. "I hope we don't get a little too carried away telling him how good he was tonight, but you cannot overlook the fact that tonight was just phenomenal and other-worldly," Bishop stated in a post on 'ESPNCricinfo'.
Now, the cricketing world is eagerly awaiting the development of this fantastic young cricketer, whose flamboyant style and shining talent had already made him a performer of note!
