At the Asia Olympic Qualifiers, India clinched its fifth gold medal thanks to the stellar performance of Rudrankksh Patil and Mehuli Ghosh in the 10m Air Rifle Mixed Team event. They secured victory by outshooting China's Shen Yufan and Zhu Mingshuai with a final score of 16-10.
However, in the 10m Air Pistol Mixed Team event, India secured the silver medal as Arjun Cheema and Rhythm Sangwan finished second to Vietnam's Thu Vinh Trinh and Quang Huy Pham in the competition for the top spot.
During the qualification rounds, Rhythm and Arjun showcased their prowess by topping the charts with an impressive score of 582, surpassing Vietnam's second-placed duo with a score of 580. Yet, despite their strong showing, they couldn't replicate the same success in the final showdown.
Previously, Rudrankksh and Mehuli had secured the second position in the qualifications with a combined score of 631.3, trailing behind Yufan and Mingshuai, who tallied 632.3.
In a remarkable feat on the preceding day, Varun Tomar and Esha Singh earned two Olympic quota places for India by clinching gold medals in the men's and women's 10m Air Pistol events at the Qualifiers. This achievement raised the count of Indian shooters headed to Paris to 15, matching the record set during the Tokyo Games.
