Reports Suggest Hardik Pandya's Absence for Series Against Australia, South Africa

Pandya was gradually trying to regain his bowling form under the guidance of strength and conditioning coaches at the nets

It's unfortunate news for Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya, as reports suggest he will be sidelined from the upcoming cricketing action due to a right ankle injury sustained during the World Cup league match against Bangladesh. According to The Indian Express, Pandya, currently undergoing rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru, might be out of action for an additional two months. However, a decision regarding the necessity of surgery is yet to be made by the medical team.

The report details that Pandya was gradually trying to regain his bowling form under the guidance of strength and conditioning coaches at the nets. He was advised to incrementally increase his bowling speed without overexerting his ankle. Despite no issues initially, Pandya felt discomfort in his leg during the fourth delivery when he heightened the intensity of his bowling.

Upon informing the support staff about the discomfort in his right ankle, the NCA medical team decided to conduct further scans to assess the situation.

In Pandya's absence, seamer Prasidh Krishna has been approved as his replacement by the tournament’s Event Technical Committee. Krishna, at 27 years old, has returned to action following a lengthy injury break and boasts 17 ODIs for India, accumulating 29 wickets.
