PCB has approached the BCCI and proposed an arrangement whereby India can return to either New Delhi or Chandigarh between matches during the Champions Trophy next year if the team does not wish to stay in Pakistan for security reasons.
The PCB has "verbally" proposed to the BCCI that the Indian team can train at a camp located either in New Delhi or Chandigarh/Mohali and take chartered flights to Lahore for their matches.
A PCB source, however, confirmed to PTI on Friday that the board had not made any suggestions in writing to their Indian counterparts.
"But yes it is true that these options have been discussed verbally between officials as a way to ensure that India plays its matches in Pakistan," said the source. The Champions Trophy is scheduled to be played from February 19 to March 9 and matches will be held in Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Karachi.
The PCB has scheduled India's matches in Lahore because of its proximity to the Indian border and logistical ease.
India is scheduled to play three group-stage matches in the tournament: on February 20 against Bangladesh, February 23 against Pakistan, and March 2 against New Zealand.
The PCB, however, insists that the final must be held in Lahore irrespective of whether India plays in Pakistan or not.
The Indian team is facing a long gap between their group matches, and Lahore is situated very close to the Indian border.
The ICC might consider a hybrid model for the tournament, whereby some of its matches are held outside Pakistan.
This is being considered only because India does not seem to take part in the tournament, as they have not been touring Pakistan since 2008.
The ICC has already contemplated places such as Dubai and Sri Lanka for this purpose.
